This music video for Arcade Fire's title track of their latest album, The Suburbs, is stunningly directed by the legend who is Spike Jonze. It seems the clips used are part of something bigger, and there a rumours that they are a sneak preview of a short film soon to be released by the director. The video tells the story, albeit a very confusing one, of five teenagers acting their age, until what appears to be an ominous government intervention in the lives of ordinary people forces them to lose their blissful innocence sooner than they would have liked.
I don't really have a clue what's actually going on in the video but for me it's pretty irrelevant; the way Spike Jonze has directed the scenes makes the video an emotional watch whether you understand or not.
What definitely isn't a rumour is that Spike Jonze is soon releasing a short film called, I'm Here.It's a love story between two robots and as expected, looks beautifully directed.
