I just finished watching the televised version of The Royal Ballet's interpretation of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland performed at The Royal Opera House in March this year. It's The Royal Ballet's first all-new feature length work with a brand new score in 20 years, and it really is something; the set, props and score were all amazing! I've always had some kind of weird affinity with ballet; although I've never actually done it, it's always been a type of dance that has fascinated me more than any other, and Alice In Wonderland being one of, if not my actual favourite fairytale (if you can call it that?) meant that the two combined was pretty special.
Whenever I watch professional dancers it just makes me wish so much that I had pursued dance. Not that I was ever very good at it or particularly gave it much thought when I was still (sort of) dancing, but I know it made me really happy. And I know they say it's never too late to try something new but I definitely think, considering I can now only just about touch my toes, that boat has sailed...
