"Fallen Princesses places Fairy Tale characters in modern day scenarios. In all of the images the Princess is placed in an environment that articulates her conflict. The '...happily ever after' is replaced with a realistic outcome and addresses current issues."
This series of images created by Dina Goldstein as a reaction to Annie Leibovitz's beautiful princess scenes, at first made me laugh. Then as I thought more about the implications of each image and realised that they were all perfectly plausible situations (apart from maybe the Sleeping Beauty one...) they took on a more melancholic tone, especially after having grown up watching an endless stream of Disney films, each with their own euphoric endings.
